The problem with founder-led GTM

Stop being the general contractor for your own pipeline.

I've watched founders who want LinkedIn to produce revenue hire a ghostwriter, an SDR, a data contractor, an outreach consultant, a coach, and someone to wire the automations — then spend their week coordinating all six. Each one knows a fragment. None of them owns the outcome.

First Degree replaces that stack with one integrated system: my methodology, the go-to-market team that runs it and teaches it, and a community of founders running the same motion.

  • Ghostwriter$3–6K / mo
  • SDR or appointment setter$4–7K / mo
  • Lead-list and data contractor$1–2K / mo
  • Outreach consultant$2–5K / mo
  • LinkedIn coach$1–3K / mo
  • Automation builder$2–4K / mo
  • One pipeline operating systemfrom $290 / mo
  • Typical assembled cost$13–27K / mo + your week
Who this is built for

This is a pipeline system, not a personal-brand program.

I'm deliberately narrow about who joins. My system works when there's a real offer, a reachable buyer, and a founder willing to bring their perspective to it.

You're a strong fit if you are…

  • A bootstrapped or capital-efficient B2B founder selling a real product or service
  • Clear enough on your ICP that my team can map them on LinkedIn
  • Selling at a contract value where one or two customers pay for the whole system
  • Willing to contribute stories, opinions, and founder perspective as raw material
  • Looking for qualified conversations, demos, and customers — not applause

If that's you, the rest of this page is for you.

It's the wrong fit if you are…

  • Idea-stage without an offer anyone has paid for
  • Unsure who the buyer is, or selling to everyone
  • Selling into a market that simply isn't on LinkedIn
  • Expecting tools to remove you from the process entirely
  • Primarily after followers rather than commercial outcomes

I'll tell you during the application if this isn't the right system for you.

The operating system

One motion, six stages. Every member runs the same journey I run.

This is the order my team runs it in, because each stage feeds the next: positioning shapes the audience, the audience shapes the content, the content warms the conversations, and the data tells you what to fix.

Stage 01

Position

Clarify the commercial offer, define the ICP, name the pains that matter, and rebuild the founder profile around that buyer.

  • Offer & ICP clarity workshop
  • Profile rebuild framework
  • Differentiated point of view
Stage 02

Build the right audience

Map the reachable market on LinkedIn — prospects, customers, partners, and market experts — then score and prioritise them.

  • Market-mapping process
  • Lead scoring & lookalikes
  • Consistent connection motion
LinkedIn Machine
Stage 03

Create demand through content

Extract founder stories, mistakes, and lessons. Translate them into three to five posts a week that warm the market before you ever reach out.

  • Founder extraction interviews
  • Authority / POV / proof mix
  • Repeatable weekly cadence
Founder Content System
Stage 04

Create conversations

Use profile views, engagement, and targeted connections as signals. Start relevant, non-generic conversations and test openers and offers.

  • Signal-based openers
  • DM & follow-up frameworks
  • Path from reply to booked call
DM Copilot
Stage 05

Diagnose and improve

Measure acceptance, reply quality, positive conversations, and booked calls. Separate targeting problems from messaging problems. Run controlled tests.

  • Reporting templates
  • Targeting vs. messaging diagnosis
  • Weekly test cadence
Stage 06

Systemise or delegate

Write the SOPs, hand the right work to an SDR, writer, or VA, and keep the founder only where founder voice matters.

  • SOP library
  • Delegation playbook
  • Founder time budget
Who teaches it

You learn from me, and from the people who actually run my motion.

I'm not endorsing someone else's LinkedIn methodology. You're getting the operating system behind my own founder-led motion — taught by me and by the go-to-market team, operators, and contractors who execute it for me every day.

New modules, new operators

When my team adds a capability to the motion — video, events, partnerships, a new channel — the operator running it teaches it. The curriculum grows the way the motion does.

  • Guest operators and contractors
  • New modules as they prove out
  • Nothing taught that isn't being run
Not frozen. Live. The curriculum changes as my team tests and improves the motion. You're not learning a playbook I recorded two years ago — you're inside the one we're running this week.

Community & team support

My curriculum, playbooks, templates, and the member community. My team responds within 48 business hours.

This is structured group coaching, not unlimited consulting. That's what keeps the quality high and the price sane.
Coming next · my proprietary tool suite

The tools my team is building to run the motion.

You run the full system manually with the core membership — that's how my team ran it before the tools existed. The suite will remove the heaviest manual work from three stages and capture the data that makes testing possible. Founding members get the first seats.

In development · founding members first
Stage 02 · Audience

LinkedIn Machine

Build ICP-fit prospect lists, find the market experts and buyers who matter, and prioritise who to reach first.

  • Lead scoring and lookalike discovery
  • Connection-request workflow support
  • Less manual network-growth grind
Stage 03 · Content

Founder Content System

Extracts ideas and experiences from you, tunes to your voice and point of view, and turns raw material into three to five posts a week.

  • Built around ICP pains, beliefs, and objections
  • Voice-tuned, not generic
  • A ghostwriting workflow you can hand off
Stage 04 · Conversations

DM Copilot

Reads inbound DMs, identifies intent, recommends replies, and helps move the right conversations toward qualified calls.

  • Follow-up support and sequencing
  • Performance data across messages and tests
  • No need to become a copywriter or SDR
When the suite ships, members will connect their own API keys and cover their own model usage, so the tool fee pays for the systems, workflows, and ongoing development — not marked-up compute. Seats will be released in controlled batches so everyone gets proper onboarding.

Why I'm opening this up
Portrait of Alex Turnbull
Alex TurnbullFounder, Groove · Helply

I've built three companies, and in every one of them the thing that actually worked wasn't a growth hack. It was telling the truth about what we were doing, in public, to the people we wanted to serve.

At Groove that was a blog. Today it's LinkedIn. Same instinct, different channel — and a much shorter path from a post to a conversation to a customer.

What changed with Helply is that I stopped doing it alone. My go-to-market team turned my habit into a system: who we reach, what we say, how we respond, what we measure, and what we test next. That system is why I'm booking roughly five demos a week from LinkedIn right now, and it's why I can keep building the company instead of managing six contractors.

This membership is that system, taught by me and the people who run it. I'm not going to promise you my numbers — your offer, your buyer, and your effort decide those. What I can promise is that you'll have the complete motion and the team behind it, so you can stop guessing.

If you're building something real and your buyers are on LinkedIn, I'd love to have you inside.

Questions founders ask

Before you apply.

I don't guarantee it, and you should be suspicious of anyone who does. My results come from my offer, my market, and years of audience-building. What I promise is that you'll install and operate the complete system needed to generate a repeatable flow of qualified LinkedIn conversations and sales opportunities — and that you'll be able to see exactly where it's working and where it isn't.

Because the motion compounds. Positioning takes a couple of weeks. The audience takes a month to warm. Content starts pulling conversations in month two and three. Anyone selling you a 30-day LinkedIn pipeline is selling you a spike. Six months is the honest minimum I’ve seen to build a motion that keeps running.

My team is building them now, and founding members get the first seats. You don’t need them: every stage runs manually with the core membership, and I teach the manual workflows first so you understand what the tools will be doing for you. The suite removes the heaviest manual work from audience-building, content, and DMs, and captures the data that makes testing possible.

So the tool fee pays for the systems, workflows, and ongoing development rather than marked-up compute. You'll see exactly what you're spending on model usage, and I'm never incentivised to ration how much you use them.

Plan for three to five focused hours a week in the first two months: sessions, founder extraction, and working the conversation queue. From there, Stage 06 is explicitly about handing most of it to an SDR, writer, or VA and keeping only the work where founder voice matters.

No. I lead a structured group session every week, plus AMAs and selected case reviews. I choose questions for their relevance to the whole membership. That structure is what lets me keep the price where it is and the quality where it needs to be.

My team reviews your offer, ICP, and whether your buyers are actually reachable on LinkedIn. If it's a fit, you get an onboarding call with my GTM team and immediate access to Stage 01. If it isn't, I'll tell you honestly and point you somewhere more useful.
